I've always had anxiety, probably from my shyness, but after being in a bad relationship, my anxiety worsened.

Stress; people yelling; being late; a lot of things cause anxiety.

Methods - I am on medication, but I also remind myself to take deep breaths and try to relax. I try to remind myself to take on one task at a time. I take walks or cuddle with my dog.

I'd like my friends and family to know to be patient with me. Things don't come easily as they do for others, and that if I don't feel like going out all the time, it's okay.

People think having a mental illness is a sign of weakness. Or they don't believe they exist. A lot of people think you can just choose to feel a certain way, but they don't understand just how crippling it can be.

It's taken me a long time to realize that I'm not alone, and that the more I tell people about my anxiety, the more I learn about others' mental illnesses as well. I think being able to talk about it and being open is key, and it's helped me not hide from it or be ashamed of it.
