The Weighted Blanket Project
In July, my uncle was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphatic cancer.
Two weeks after that I ended a five year relationship.
Three weeks after that my brother tested positive for COVID-19.
As the stress piled on worrying about my family and work and trying to maintain my own emotions I began to feel out of control. My feelings manifested not in tears or breakdowns but in lack of motivation.
As someone who is highly motivated to achieve and compete in all things.
What pulled me out of what felt like dire straits was something my dad said, “I don’t owe a man a damn thing. I’m just doing the best I can.” Since then I’ve been waking up and saying that as my morning affirmation.
